Update to this month's meeting notes.....

One of our meeting items will be beginning to plan a benefit ride for our Chaplain's niece and family, who has been dealing leukemia.
They are deeply covered in medical bills, along with their normal day to day household expenses.
If you have any experience in setting up this kind of event, we need you at this meeting.

Reminder..we have the "Joker" ride next weekend going to the Dragon....Not only is it honoring a good man and a fellow member, but it's an amazing chance to ride a world famous road.  Please pass the word! Questions can be asked/answered on the event page.

It was good to have you drop in on us. Feel free to visit any time! And bring more with you!

We were hoping for a much bigger response. But, we'll take what we get and make the best of it.

Hope to see you again soon.

Terry, that Wounded Vet Ride in Macon that Jesse & Jennifer Shouse organized was the one that when I went out to leave, the bike battery was dead. If you remember, we found out 3 or 4 weeks later that it wasn't charging because my stators were dying on me. The next thing was the state meeting just below Macon. Remember my lights kept going dim, and I ended up having to get a jump start, and a new battery. After that was the Cycle World ride. When it came time to start lining up, mine wouldn't start and I sat there and watched 500+ bikes pull out with out me. I don't remember who it was, but I finally got a jump start to get me going again, and 3 more times to get home.
The next day, I took it to my mechanic in Roswell and he figured out that my stators were now completely dead.
But, back on subject.....
Last year, the Wounded Vet Ride went off again, and we had 4 of us that went. There were 2 other bikes there, for a total of 6. They were very discouraged. And us too. Jennifer was really hoping to see you there. You made a really good impression, and was, apparently, a really good ambassador for our group. THANK YOU! This year, we actually co-sponsored the event. We produced 6 bikes and we used the Tahoe for the chase/safety car.
They got a total of 105 bikes and 3 cages, plus the chase car in the ride this year. Very successful this time.
And it looks like we are likely going to be co-sponsors on it again for the next few years, as long as we maintain a good relationship with Jesse and Jennifer. They are fabulous kids, and they are dedicated to their mission.

And no, 2 to 6 at a meeting does not make us happy. We've been working on this thing up here in the north end for five solid years now. For some reason, we just can't seem to get good traction up here. We have a "build-up" strategy that we're working, IF we can figure out what we need to do to get our numbers up. So far, THAT has been the hardest part. That is the whole reason for the "Family Day / Meet & Greet" in conjunction with the July meeting.

We have no idea what kind of turn out we're going to have, but we're gonna give it a shot and see what happens.

One thing I can say is that we have a small crew, but we are dedicated to the mission. THAT is MY encouragement to keep trying. And yes, we know that when something is needed, we can count on the others to lend a hand, even though we are scattered over the northern 1/3 of the state.

Our new Chaplain likely won't get back from his vacation in time to be with us on the 27th, but he's gonna try to make at least part of it. And even knowing that he may not be there, he still put out the effort to get out and locate the facility for our outing.

This is the kind of crew we have now. It's the kind of crew that almost anyone would be proud to be a part of. When something is in the works, you can pretty much count on them to be there, and I'm damn proud to have them around me.

That is the kind of crew member you are. Or you were till your skooter went down. And that is why we want and need you back!

Yeah, we've had some disappointments, and there have been some p*****' contests in other parts of the state, but we've not had those kinds of problems up here. And if that is the trade-off of staying small, that's good with me. I'd much rather stay small and not have all the turmoil the "flat-landers" had and still be effective in our mission. But, we're still gonna' try to get our numbers up a bit more. We're trying to "eat an elephant" here, and the only way to do that is one bite at a time.

Come on out on the 27th and look the new crew over. I think you'll like what you find!

HG, you can't hear my ride but you can see the yellow bastard. Besides no one ever said, "hey did you see that black motorcycle?" LOL! Terry, hope to meet you. One vet to another thanks for your service. A correction though, I live in Dacula but I am in Athens often as we have good friends out that way. Anything you got going on, if I am in town count me in. I ride for the wind therapy and am politically active because that is the only way to make changes happen. 6-8 really persistent voices can do a lot more than many people believe. Stay the course!!

Terry, My memory isn't the greatest.  I am super busy at work and it wipes me out, so forgive me if I don't remember our meetings.  Yes, the attendance at the monthly meetings is dismaying, but it takes dedication from riders like you and I to make it work.  If we build it, they will come... or so the saying goes.  Still looking forward to seeing you at the lake on the 27th.
