I typed out a whole event suggesting we do an over night trip to ride the tail of the dragon and tried to post it under events. Now can't find where it saved to if it did indeed save. So not knowing where to post, I am posting it on NC and SC pages. I have been informed that my wife has not had the "opportunity" to ride the tail of the dragon with me. So I we will be planning a trip some time after Constitution Week. I am proposing that SOLR join us some where near the Dragon and stay over night. There are  several campgrounds that also  have rental cabins. My intention is for this to be during the week. I apologize for all those who have to work during the week and can't get time off. One of the places I found is near Deals Gap and has the cheapest rates. I know nothing about it. Brookside

There is also a camp ground that has mini cabins for only $25 a night, which is less than most camp site fees

Here is a list of other campgrounds near the Tail of the Dragon if some one has suggestions.

If any one has a specific date that works for them, we will make every  effort to use those dates.  At this point the calendar is open for suggestions.  Also, any suggestions on the best place to stay is appreciated, but I will be staying in a fifth wheel camper for at least two nights. Also Cade's Cove is not far and might be considered for an extended stay. Say , more than two nights. The Townsend camp grounds might be better choices in that case.  some additional info.

It appears that the run of the north Georgia Missing Man Tribute has come to an end, as we could not locate any Gold Star/Blue Star families to participate.

We may revisit this project later this year concerning the 2018 season.

We have a few things in the works that need development over the next few weeks.

There is a "Unity Rally" scheduled for Wednesday, 29 March, noon to 3pm at the State Capitol Building, hosted by the Lanier Tea Party organization. They would like a speaker to represent SOLR, if anyone can make it.
Unfortunately, most of us have jobs and Wednesdays are not good for anyone.

We also have the Bomber Girls Ladies Riding Club hosting the Wheels and Warriors Bike and Car Show in Newnan, Ga. on 22 April, 9am - 3pm. SOLR is supposed to have the Missing Man Tribute at this event. Unfortunately, this is not yet put together.
IF we are able to pull this together again this year, we need more dates to add to the summer calendar.

Also in the idea/planning stages are educational events for Independence Day and Constitution Day. I (HG) am in contact with some folks who have the resources to help pull these together.

I would like to have a meeting by the end of March to discuss/plan these events.

I will be in touch with everyone very soon.

Notes From October Meeting
22 Oct 2016
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Meeting was opened at 4:15 PM at Hooters of Cartersville, Ga.
4 members and 2 guests were present.
John Cretnik
Lee Green
Greg Newberry
Tripp Northen
Visitors were Patrick and Lea Ann Burns

Discussion topics included the following.....

1 - Recruiting and keeping new active members.

Solutions were to invite new people to FB pages and post any events, motorcycle related or not, where we can have an opportunity to discuss our issues.

2 - Whether to continue Missing Man Tribute presentations.

Consensus: Yes. Greg offered to assist in locating families to participate in the presentations.

3 - Discussed pros and cons of questions on the Nov 8 ballot.

Consensus on the questions were:
Question 1 - NO
Question 2 - NO
Question 3 - NO
Question 4 - Yes
Most of all questions placed on the ballot should not require an amendment to the Georgia State Constitution.

4 - How to impact upcoming 2017 state legislative session.

Consensus: All members pay attention to the items added to the Georgia state legislative website. Use social media (and other methods) to call public attention to the various bills as they are introduced, especially those that will have a negative impact on the state, and rally support for those that should be passed.

5 - Should we plan and execute a Thanksgiving or Christmas event, public or private.

Consensus: Yes. Private event for members and guests.
Will post a private event page for members to post ideas or suggestions and to their preferences... Date, time, location (public or hosted at a member's home),

6 - State officer issues.

The state of Georgia has been without an active President and Vice President for over three years. Northwest Coordinator has been urged by National President to take the position of President for almost two years.
John (Hired Gun) Cretnik has reluctantly accepted the position of Georgia State President. Tripp Northen accepted the position of Georgia Vice President.

7 - Clarification and scope of SOLR, conduct of members, wearing of vests or jackets with SOLR logo to MC/RC clubhouses and private events.

Information on activities of other states was presented and discussed. Mission of SOLR was clarified. SOLR type of organization was discussed and clarified.
New rules regarding conduct and actions of Georgia members were proposed. Needs further study and/or refinement. Tabled until next meeting.

8 - No new business was introduced by members or guests.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:20 PM

Hired Gun

Thanks, Brother, for your help in promoting what should be an incredible tribute to the Benghazi Four.  This is a 100 mile escorted ride through 6 counties in 3 states (GA, NC, TN), stopping at the county courthouses or veterans memorial in each place.  At each stop, there will be a prayer (Ride Chaplain), pledge of allegiance, a few words by a county official, Taps and Amazing Grace by the Bagpiper, and planting of a memorial sign.  In Murphy, NC, the final stop, we will go to the historic Henn Theater for a private showing of "13 Hours:  The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi".  It should be a memorable experience for all to honor our Brothers who lost their lives in Libya.  No charge to ride.  Registration begins at 9 AM in Hiawassee, GA, at the Towne Square on Main Street.  Program at 10 AM.  KSU approx. 10:20 AM.

Dr. Dan
