Hi Buzz,   Glad your chapter of ALR is active like that.  A guy by the name of Tommy Poss (now deceased ) asked me to help start the Florence chapter up with some other guys.  I was the Historian for the chapter, the first meeting produced about 13 showed up, we had one ride, then each meeting after that less and less showed up.  By the fourth meeting I kept my anger to myself and said screw this- I may as well ride by myself !! Ken W. down there ( past Cmdr.of Post ) told me by the 5th meeting it was just him!  I was shocked since Lauderdale has so many vets and bikers in it that no one seemed interested in getting that chapter active, at least active as could be.  That is now about 5 years ago....that chapter is dead in the water there. Needless to say I let that Legion membership expire, I'm a Life Member of VFW and was a Founding President of a VVA Chapter #533 out in California back in the 80's.  I'm retired and been just riding about here in local areas of Lauderdale. I got my grand nephew interested in biking and taught him to ride on my property in and around trees and now he's been riding with me occasionally.  I just don't do long rides anymore though, last one was with PGR to Gulf Shores Annual' back in 2007. Not much long after that got diabetes, and long rides just don't do me good anymore.  been riding for decades though, riding is great.  Anyway , I am happy for you down there in your area that you got an active group .  Ride safe !

If you are NEW to SOLR:

  1. Join your state page, scroll down. Click on the name of your state and "JOIN".
  2. Contact the State President or leader.  NOT ALL STATES HAVE ONE.  If you are in a state that doesn't have leadership, get involved and try and reach out to the other members on the page.  Find another person who can help you get something going....then get involved.
  3. Read the by-laws, participate in the chat, reply to articles, and learn the ropes of how the site works.
  4. If you have a question post it in the chat room.  Someone should be able to answer it for you there.  If not contact your state leader or post it as a Discussion.
  5. Have fun and get involved politically!  While we are mostly "riders" many are not and our mission is POLITICAL 1st.....

We do have shirts available.  http://americanlibertyriders.ning.com/page/solr-tshirts

Patches are only available through your State President.....they will explain...and work with new members on "how" you go about getting one.

Welcome to the Sons of Liberty family!   We are so glad you decided to join us.

If you have not done so already … take a moment to join your State forum. It is easy to do and I encourage you to take the time now as your first step.

Just find your State on the STATE TAB. Which is located on the top of this page you are reading – click on it – and join your State.

Once you have joined your State forum, you will have access to a full compliment of important information, which is designed to include people, issues and events in your neck of the woods. Don’t be shy.  Jump right in.

You will also notice there is a great deal of conversation going on the Main page forums.  Feel free to participate but keep active on your State also so you are able to keep up to date on your State’s events and whatnot.

If you have any questions or need help with anything … drop me a line.
